Burnt Heart for my Father

Flee from blank faces
cut your laces
pierce your tongue
And run!
—or sail
hoping for life
Did you fail?
Did you cry?
Did you die?
Staring through darkness
you were blind
you feared
falling
off of the donkey’s bare back
stabbing pains
Back on – a buffalo
falling
again and again…

Bring light
back into the black
Heart still beating
kind and steady
but burnt
stained with fear
and blood
of lost loved ones
And the one
The Angel whom you never knew
The one who gave birth
to you

Heartbreak – death
Death – heartbreak.

Anew with an angel
and three colors
We are primary
A.S.K.
We are your rainbow
and you are my strength.
